Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs):

Save Money while Giving to Bring our Vision to Life!

What is a “qualified charitable distribution” or QCD? It is:

  • a withdrawal of up to $111,000/year from one or more IRAs,

  • by an account owner age 70 ½ +, for giving directly to a charity. The gift check from the IRA should be payable to First Presbyterian Church to count as a QCD.

  • A QCD is not included in taxable income, and so avoids income tax.

Are you age 73+? QCDs make even more sense for people aged 73 and above because their QCD can avoid income tax on required distributions this group must take from their IRA each year. A QCD will count toward your required withdrawal but is not included in taxable income, both federal and NC. Paying your pledge using a QCD will save you income tax even if you take the standard deduction and don’t itemize deductions.

Have questions? If you think that a QCD might help you make your chosen pledge in 2027, please contact your accountant for more information.

Thank you for your presence here at First Presbyterian Church, and thank you for your support of our 2027 pledge campaign!
