Children and Youth

  • Nursery is provided for newborns to two year olds in the church preschool building.
  • Preschool through 7th grade classes use "Exploring Faith: God's Word for God's Children" by Cokesbury. Each class is age-appropriate in its presentation of the Bible content and activities. Three year olds through Kindergartners meet in the Preschool Building and the second through fifth graders meet on the first and second floors of the main building. Signs are posted by each door.
  • The 8th Grade Sunday school is Confirmation Class where youth are introduced to the basic beliefs and organizational structure of the PC (USA). This class meets on the second floor of the main building in the Media Center.
  • High school Sunday school utilizes various resources to reflect on and discuss contemporary issues facing Christians today. examples of resources include video-based curriculum, television shows (old and new) and printed and electronic news media. Middle School and Senior High classes meet on the second floor of the main building.

 

Adults

The Adult Sunday School Classes offer the following opportunities for the Spring 2006 quarter:

  • The Christian Life Class meets in the Session Room on the main floor of the church.  Through "The Present Word," a Bible study series, teachers and learners come together to reflect on the biblical text and to act on what they discover. This quarter's study is "God's Committement - Our Response." Biblical texts include the books of Isaiah, 1 & 2 Timothy and Titus. David Laws leads this class. 
  • The Richard Meisky Sunday School Class meets in the Parlor and is taught by Doyle Early and Allen Bennett. Participants begin a new study entitled "I'm Glad You Asked" which is produced by Search Ministies and is an apologetic study of the 12 most often asked questions of Christians. Learn how to defend your faith to your friends and family who ask: Is there really a God? What about miracles? If God is good, why is there evil in the world? How can I know I've been saved? Feel free to join these lively and thoughtful discussions!!
  • This class meets in Room 209 upstairs in the main building and is led by Bill Smith, Judy Smith and Lisa Cooper. They begin "Into the World: The Acts of the Apostles" in January 2006. This is a 14 part study. Come relive the events of the early church and catch the wind of the same spirit that brings renewed life to today's Christians.
  • Cloud of Witnesses class is a discussion group led by Jequita Bailey and Sharon Van Kleef that meets in Ken's office. This quarter they will be studying Favorite Bible Passages. The lessons call the class to take a second look at familiar passages and find the message for today.
  • The Presbyterian Home Class meets at the Presbyterian Home each Sunday.   Continuing with the International Lesson Series, this class begins a unit entitled "God's commitment - Our Response." Brown Wright and Sam Kasias are the teachers for this class. 
  • The Martha Brown Bible Study Class will meet in the Fellowship Hall. This class will continue their study of the life of Christ in chronological order from the Gospels. The teachers are Doug Clark and Dave Perry. 
  • Feeding the Soul is our newest Sunday School class for adults. Topics in this class will be chosen according to interest as well as the liturgical season. In coming months participants will enjoy conversations surrounding the celebration of Christmas in our culture, a comparison of Christianity and world religions, and mission/service in a hurting world. Frosty Culp leads this class which meets in the Chapel.
